Stefanos Spaneas, PhD, is a lecturer in social work at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus.

His research interests lies in the areas of:
• Qualitative methodologies in social work research
• The social care agency as a learning organisation
• Use of technology as a supporting tool for the monitoring, administration and development of social services;
• Policies of Social Cohesion for Asylum Seekers and Refugees;
• Community Programmes Development aiming to the activation of citizens and/or minority groups (cultural sustainability);
• exploration of the role of indigenization in the development of social work;
• Life long training for social scientists; (Use of technology and web training programmes to promote alternative learning for professional in the area of social sciences)
• Child protection and children rights. Integration of knowledge practice – capture, dissemination and utilisation of explicit and tacit knowledge
