Faculty Member, Languages and Literature
About
I teach French and English languages at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. I hold a doctorate in Teacher Education from the University of Nottingham, UK (2011) and an MA in Linguistics, from Universite Lumiere, Lyon 2 (1988) in France.
My doctoral thesis is on intercultural competence in foreign language teaching and learning. The study used an action inquiry methodology and incorporated insights from critical pedagogy, critical multiculturalism, and intercultural competence theories. It was a classroom-based study which sought to identify successful strategies for teaching intercultural competence.
My research interests include the cultural, intercultural and political dimensions of foreign language education (FLE), curriculum development in foreign languages, integrating interculturality in teacher education and training, teaching French and English as world languages and international students' experiences.
I am also interested in collaborations within the frame of funded projects around my research interests.
